When soil temps reach 45 degrees or so, it's time to put in the season's first crop of peas. Both traditional shelling and edible pod peas thrive in cool weather and are among the easiest crops to grow. Just make sure to offer them well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.7.
